Our Vision

Sunrise was born with a vision: that good advice should be independent, should be focussed on what clients really value and needn’t be expensive. We are owned and managed by Guy Roper FPFS, Chartered Financial Planner, and Guy ensures that the vision is as clear today as when we were founded. At Sunrise our mission is simple, to give our clients Good financial advice.

Our Approach

We want working with us to be comfortable, effective and enjoyable. Your first meeting with Sunrise will be your opportunity to get to know us, as well as allowing us to understand your needs.

You’ll tell us about your current situation, and about your financial objectives and when you want to achieve them. You’ll also tell us about your principles, and what is important to you. We’ll then develop a plan designed to meet your financial goals. We’ll discuss the plan with you and agree the course of action you want to take, and whilst the final decisions are of course yours we are here to help and guide you with Good advice both now and in the future.

Our Services

All our clients are different. At Sunrise we never pre-judge what anyone’s needs might be, instead we look to understand their complete situation before making a personal recommendation.

At the core of our values is a belief that it is possible to invest responsibly, without compromising on performance. Socially Responsible Investing, also known as Ethical Investing, can include investing in ways that promote things like energy efficiency, clean water provision, low carbon initiatives and connected technologies. There is a huge range of high-calibre solutions available, and ethical solutions exist to meet most investment objectives. We also believe that the best investment outcomes can be achieved by having highly qualified investment experts working hand in hand with advisers, continually applying their expertise to clients’ portfolios.

As independent advisers, we can advise on any investment in the marketplace. Whilst we take a particular interest in ethical investments, we are also able to advise on more traditional investment options.

The value of investments can fall as well as rise. You may get back less than you originally invested.

Medical Professionals have unique needs, and at Sunrise we have a lot of experience in providing advice to meet those needs. For example, if you are a doctor and you are concerned about:

  • Understanding your NHS rewards and benefits
  • Understanding your NHS pension scheme
  • Pension annual allowance issues
  • Pension lifetime allowance issues
  • Reducing a potential tax liability
  • How best to position your finances to meet your future goals

…then you are not alone. We have assisted many doctors with similar concerns, and we can help you understand your situation and plan your finances as efficiently as possible. Just click “get in touch”.

We believe that a financial strategy is built on firm foundations. For many of us that means first protecting what is important: our families, our incomes, and our property.

There are various ways in which people can protect what matters most, and as independent financial advisers we can select from any suitable product in the marketplace. There is usually an appropriate policy for most circumstances and most budgets.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish”

Financial planning means setting goals for the future, and then making plans to reach them. Your goals could be greater financial security, supporting your family, paying for something special or simply protecting your wealth from the effects of inflation. Whatever your goals, we can help you plan towards them.

When planning your finances, it is important to distinguish between savings and investments. Savings are generally funds that you set aside that can be accessed relatively quickly. These savings are often for a specific need or purchase, like a holiday or a new car. The most common way of saving is into a bank account (‘deposit’ account) where the money can be accessed in an emergency, and for every £1 you put in, you will get £1 back and possibly some interest. In other words, the original capital is guaranteed.

Investments are designed to be held for a longer term, usually at least 5 years. You need to be comfortable with tying up this money for a period of time and should not consider investments unless you first have some savings in place. Most investments are not guaranteed to return your money in full, although do offer the prospect of potentially higher returns than deposit accounts. Returns, risk and volatility are the factors that will determine a suitable place for your investments.

Retirement: The longest holiday of your life – but only if you plan for it carefully.

For many people in work, their ultimate goal is to retire. Pensions are designed to enable you to save sufficient money during your working life to allow you to live comfortably once you have retired.

There are many different ‘tools’ used to save for retirement, and the taxation, investment and ever-changing pension rules can appear baffling. We specialise in explaining, advising on and monitoring pensions for you so that your retirement is as comfortable as possible. We have particular expertise in explaining the rules and options of the NHS pension scheme.

A retirement strategy usually has many aspects to it. For advice on planning for your retirement, just click “get in touch”.

Pensions are a long-term investment. You may get back less than you put in. Pensions can be subject to tax and regulatory changes, so the tax treatment of pension benefits may change in the future. The Financial Conduct Authority does not regulate taxation advice.
